Our Vision
Urban Roots is buzzing with excitement as we cultivate food equity, spark entrepreneurial fire, and deliver mind-blowing hands-on education in Memphis's 38128 zip code!
Our Impact
We're growing the most amazing urban community farm in West Tennessee, where students don't just read about sustainability—they dig in, get their hands dirty, and experience the thrill of cultivation, connect with animals, and jump into real-world market adventures!
Our Community
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Raleigh, we're revolutionizing education while tackling food deserts head-on! Our secret ingredient? The amazing energy of young leaders and the magic of community-powered agriculture that's transforming neighborhoods one harvest at a time!
More Than a Farm. It's a Future.
Our campus features a complete self-sustaining agricultural ecosystem where STAR Academy students gain hands-on experience every day. Each element of our farm has been designed with both education and sustainability in mind:
Greenhouse Agriculture
Our state-of-the-art greenhouse features hydroponics and aquaponics systems, allowing students to learn advanced growing techniques while producing fresh vegetables for retail in environmentally controlled spaces.
Raised Planter Gardening
Students cultivate seasonal produce in our raised planters, learning to grow both cool and warm season crops while understanding the health benefits of organic farming methods.
Water Management Systems
Our natural water collection and biological filtration ponds create a closed-loop irrigation system, teaching sustainability while providing essential resources for all growing methods.

Hear From Our Community
Jamal, Future 3rd Grader
"I've never known where carrots come from. Soon I'll be growing them myself and my mom will buy them from me at Market Day. I want to have my own farm when I grow up."
Dr. Hunter, Ag Advisor
"The farm will transform how I teach. When studying ecosystems or photosynthesis, we won't just read about it—we'll walk outside and see it happening in real time."
Carlos, Prospective Parent Volunteer
"Seeing my daughter's excitement about agriculture will change our family's eating habits. We'll start growing our own herbs, and she'll be teaching ME about composting!"
